Exam Structure

In order to upgrade the skills and proficiency of the young generation and also to┬аprovide them awareness to explore about various career options the CBSE┬аhas started offering 40 courses at Senior Secondary level.┬аThe┬аskill education envisions imparting the procedural knowledge and skills to the students that will enable students to excel and emerge successful in real situation of┬аboth work and life.

It works towards imparting an education that is holistic, meaningful and skill oriented which instils among the youth a sense of usefulness and┬аresponsibility.┬аYou can choose either one or two or three skill subjects from skill electives. You have to choose other elective subjects from academic electives.

  • Mathematics (041) and Applied Mathematics (840)
  • Informatics Practice (065) and Information Technology (802) or Web Application (803)
  • Business Studies (054) and Business Administrations (833)

The syllabus consists of six units - Regular Maintenance of an Engine, Regular Maintenance of Transmission System, Regular Maintenance of Gear, Service of Wheels, Regular Maintenance of Tubes and Tires, and Regular Maintenance of Brakes.

Part B: Vocational Skills (50 Marks)

1. Regular Maintenance of an Engine

  • Inspection of an engine.
  • Washing of an engine.
  • Tuning fuel system of an engine.
  • Tuning of the ignition system of an engine.
  • Tuning engine lubrication system.
  • Tuning engine cooling system.
  • Checking other engine components (Mechanical Setting).
  • Engine Timing and engine sound test after setting.

2. Regular Maintenance of Transmission System

  • Transmission system.
  • Clutch maintenance.
  • Clutch adjustments.
  • Overhauling of clutch.

3. Regular Maintenance of Gear

  • Lubrication of gear box.
  • Setting of gears.

4. Service of Wheels

  • Importance of wheels.
  • Importance of hub greasing and bearing play adjustments.

5. Regular Maintenance of Tubes and Tires

  • Tyre and its maintenance.
  • Tyre puncture.

6. Regular Maintenance of Brakes

  • Brakes and maintenance.
  • Brakes and adjustment
